The 2021 Fraud Loss Survey published by The Communications Fraud Control Association (CFCA) reported telecommunications operators losing $40B to fraud.

One of the most significant fraud scenarios impacting operators is international bypass fraud (including Simbox Fraud) with losses estimated at $3.11B
